About Karori United
KUTC caters for the whole community at all levels:
- Senior, Midweek, and Junior
- Beginner, Social, and Competitive.
- Junior, Senior Interclub and Midweek interclub teams catering for all levels and abilities.
- Regular social nights and events
- Three plexipave hard courts, with lighting.
Karori United has three main sections of the Club. We have the junior members who are regularly involved in the extensive coaching programme run at the Club, and who make up a large proportion of the junior interclub teams in the Wellington region. Our Midweek section is very active with a number of activities for parents wanting to get back into tennis, as well as having a number of interclub teams. The rest of the Club comprises the Senior members, who participate in regular club days as well as competitive interclub teams. Further details can be found in the following links:
Committee meetings are usually held at the club on the second Monday of the month from 7pm. Club members are most welcome to attend. For more information on the committee and contact details please refer to the following document:
At this stage, our court booking system is very much a manual affair. It consists of a ringbinder just inside the front door of the Club. The ringbinder contains a page per week, per court. It details the times that the courts are reserved for coaching and other scheduled Club activities. All other times are blank. These times are available for members to book, and all court bookings have priority over casual play. Because of the pressure on the courts, we ask that when you book times, these are limited to 1 hour at a time.
Depending on availability, the courts can be used at night. The courts have floodlights which can be turned on from the switchboard inside the door of the Clubhouse. The Committee has decided that because of the pressure on the courts in daylight hours, that the lights will be free to operate – so you won’t have to put coins in to keep them going. Please note that the lights have an automatic cut-off of 10pm – a condition of the resource consent for the lights.
Access to the courts and clubhouse is by key. You can get a key from Glenda van Drimmelen-Craven ($10 refundable deposit).
