KUTC has a strong group of junior tennis players ranging from beginners to representative players. We have approximately 20 junior interclub teams as well as some of our juniors playing in the Womens and Mens leagues. A number of our juniors are now playing in tournaments around the Central region, and further afield. For further information on interclub, please see here.
Junior Club Nights
Our junior Club nights are held on Friday nights during terms 4 and 1. We run a club night / BBQ for juniors of all ages and abilities. All junior members including beginners are most welcome! Our coaches Emerson O’Campo & Liam Bramwell are present hitting in with our juniors. The focus is on fun. It runs from 5.30pm-7.30, with the last half hour (possibly longer) set aside for match play for intermediate to advanced juniors who would like to play matches.
Coaching is offered at Karori United by Capital Coaching as part of our Junior Programme. If you would like to try coaching, please first ensure your membership is up to date, then contact email@example.com for more information regarding lessons with our coaches at Karori United.
See here for further information on Capital Coaching.
Junior Club Champs
We hold an annual tournament for our junior members and encourage all interclub players to participate if possible. The tournament will include age groups from under 10 to under 16 and under, singles, doubles and open mixed doubles. We encourage all interclub players or even those thinking about interclub to play. All welcome – this could be a great introduction to tournament play!
Check out the previous Club Champ results here.
The Parent & Child Tournament is a popular event on the Karori United calendar. This tournament is a great one for the whole family or extended family. This tournament is split into 3 categories – Beginner (perfect for Hotshots players and up and coming and novice players), Intermediate (D and to B grade players), and Open (A grade and above players). The categories may change subject to entries. Categories are based on child ability… not adult ability!!!
In 2010, a trophy was instituted for the winners of the open section of the annual Parent & Child Tournament. The trophy is called the Mary Walker Cup in memory of Mary Walker who passed away in 2008. Mary was involved throughout the Club and the Parent & Child Cup recognises her contribution to the Junior, Senior and Midweek clubs through her role as Club Captain. The Cup was kindly donated to the Club by Mary’s husband, Colin.

Junior Xmas Party
Come along to our Junior Xmas Party on the last junior club night for the year – date TBA. There will be a BBQ, lolly scrambles, spot prizes and lots of good tennis!
We have an active junior committee, who coordinate all our junior activities during the year.
We are currently keen to hear from any parents who would be interested in taking up the role of Junior Convenor at Karori United. This would involve liaising with our coaches, coordinating our junior committee as well as representing juniors at our Senior committee meetings.
In addition we are also seeking parent volunteers to help with the following:
- Junior ladder – update our junior ladder for any challenges and results
- Community play coordinator – someone to organise a roster of parents to assist our teenage volunteers each week
- Other helpers to support our existing volunteers with any other adhoc tasks
If you are able to help at all, or would like to join our junior committee we’d love to hear from you.
