About Junior Interclub
The Junior Interclub tournaments organised by Tennis Central run for boys and girls over the summer Pre-Xmas and Post-Xmas (term 4 and term 1 of the school year) with a break in-between for school holidays.
This is a great way for players to put their coaching into practice with teammates. Teams are graded based on ability from novice to Regional teams. Once players start interclub they receive a player code and receive a ranking that will be updated after each game is recorded.
As one of the largest clubs in Wellington we are able to cater for all ages and abilities. While we aim to set our teams at the beginning of the season for both the Pre and Post-Xmas competitions we try to accommodate all requests and may also be in a position to include new teams Post-Xmas.
Karori United will usually be in a position to enter teams in all grades, and will be able to enter more than one team in some grades. Teams aim to have 5-6 players and a parent Team Manager to organise the team roster, playing order, balls, scoresheets and entering scores.
All interclub players (or reserves) must be registered as full Junior members.
10 September 2018 – deadline for Pre-Xmas Interclub competition
Dates TBA – Pre-Xmas junior interclub competition
Dates TBA – Post-Xmas junior interclub competition (players must be available Waitangi weekend)
Junior players wanting to play both junior and senior interclub
As a club we are happy to manage the transition of juniors into senior teams. This may involve playing in both senior and junior competitions for a transition year, or using junior players as reserves for our senior teams.
A junior player may reserve a maximum of two times in the Pre-Xmas senior competition and a maximum of two times in the Post-Xmas competition without permission from Tennis Central.
To be able to play for both junior and senior competitions in excess of the maximum two times, the Junior Convenor must first seek dispensation from TC on the player’s behalf. Requests should be made to the Junior Convenor, in writing, at least 7 days prior to the date/s of play to be considered, prior to being placed in a team.
Dispensation is granted by TC on a case by case basis and is not guaranteed.
Players wishing to play for more than 2 clubs or competitions
Players cannot play for more than one club in any one competition.
Players cannot play for more than one club in different competitions (or associations), except by permission from TCJT. if you intend playing for a senior team of another club or association, the KUTC junior convenor must be advised and asked to request dispensation for you still to be allowed to play in a junior KUTC team.
Any requests for dispensation must be made to the Junior Convenor in writing prior to the junior and senior teams being finalised.
We have been advised by TC that once a junior plays/has played senior regional interclub it is unlikely that dispensation will be granted.
